What matters Final Presentation

PLN 26

This week I read an article called Pam Lifting Vehicle. This is about a machine of awesomeness. It has two 105hp motors on it spinnig the propeller for liftoff. This machine celled the PAM has a $50,000 dollar price tag so it doesn't come cheap.This matter becasue as more and more people talk about a community in the future of flying vehicles this one doesn't completely fly but we are getting closer and closer every single try.

This week I read an article called Colorado ranks Poorly In Charity. It was about how Colorado was 36th in the ammount donated to charity each year. Colorado was the 5th highest paid state in the country. It was talked about people that earned under 50000 a year donated more than people that earned 50000-100000 per year. We have made a 13% increase from 3.4 billion to 3.8 billion. This matters because there are so many people that are way less fortunite that us and we shouls help at least a little. It amazes me that richers people tend to donate less and that make rich people look bad and cheap. This matter to us because we will be grown up sooner than we think and we will donate and with the rising cost of everything will hopefully be able to donate a lot of money and be able to help people less fortunite than us.

This week i read an article called Mikontalo Dormitory coverted into Gigantic Tetris Display. This was about how the side of a dorm building into a huge tetris game. This is completely amazing because it is controlled by a cell phone. This matters becuase this is an amazing feat and totally awesome with all the time and effort they had to put into. This week I read an article called Aurora Student Named Rhodes Scholar. This was about how Andrea a 23 year old senior at oklahoma university was names was on 32 phodes scholars of 2008. This was a very Interesting abput how she and her three siblings were homeschooled and she has originally dreamed about going to Oxford but that did not happen. Soon after she went to Oklahoma University as A second choice.What matters about this is that I know this family.I know that she had been trying hard to get into Oxford and so is her brother Mark. This really matters because she set her mind to something and even though it didn't come right away she waited and something else better came later.

PLN Presentation 1 Evaluation

I think I did pretty good.I think next time I need to be a little mored detailed on my pln's.I was also a little nervous and it probably showed during my presentation. Other than that I did really good so this is what I nees to work on for my next PLN presentation.

PLN 19

This week I read an article called Majority of states teens text while driving.It said that 51% of teens admited to textin while they drove and 66% said they talked on the phone while driving. This is a major number because when are way above the national average of 46% for texting and 51% for talking. This matters because we all will be driving in the next few year and even thought I don't have texting many of my friends do and for some it could end with a bad crash or even death.

This week I read an article called man Falls from Federal boulevard Bridge.It is not known or who is it but a man who had second thoughts about jumping of the bridge lost his grip and fell on the back window of a passing car. There was a driver and three kids in the car but none of them were hurt.This matters because no matter how bad your life may seen the answer is not to try to kill yourself.In this guys situation he was backing out of it and accidentally almost ended up killing himself.This also matters is if you kill yourself maybe you are happy now but what about your friends and family they will have second thoughts about it.

Today I read an article called Glider Plane missing south of Salida.It was about a glider that was released at about 1000 feet and neve returned or made any contact to anyone. They set out with 11 planes to search a total of 11000 square miles to find him. This matters because even though you think you can make it you never know when it could be your last flight.

This week I read an article called Mental illness reduces life expectancy. This study shows that people with schizophrenia or manic depression can loss 25 years of there life. After the illness fofr 25 or 30 years when they are in there late 40's then they become heavy smokers and get very ill because of cardiovascular disease and can die. This is important becausewe all should not smoke and do not want to die becuase of this reasons and lose 25 years that we could live.

This week I read an article called Olympic group kicks around move from Colo. This was the proposal plan to move the olympic training center to a bigger location for more office space and new residences. They are fine with the location now but are looking for their future needs. They employee 400 people a year and have 125,000 vistitors a year. This matters because this is a huge part of colorado springs.

Today I read an article called A-Basin Opens Today First In Us. This is about how after a short summer or only 129 days Arapahoe Basin is first to open in Us for 2 consecutive years. Last year they beat loveland by 1 day. This year by almost a month. This year they went up there yesterday and saw more dirt than snow. This is important because it is a huge part of people life and everyone likes to go skiing or snowboarding. This is also important because we like to open first because we ski alot because we live in colorado.

This week I readan article called man in coma afterMosquito bite. Michael Nicholson of livingson is said to have got bit this summer while fishing. They don't know if he will livebut if he does he will be severly disabled for the rest of his life. The disease known as triple E is very rare and has nop cure. This matters because it can happen toanyone at any time.

This week I read an article called Healthy Change for Childrens Hospital. I was talked about how this weekend childrens hospital made it big move to a bigger and better location. The new location is 1.44 million square feet and 73% larger than the old location. This is important to us because they are thinking about us and making more space for everyone in the world. THis relates to society because with all the new technology they want to be able to use it in a bigger space.

Today I read an article called State Hits top 10 For Nonsmokers. This is about how when the state raised the tax of cigarettes the almost a dollar smoking dropped from 22% down to 18%. This is a huge drop and smoking of teenagers has dopped from 18% down to 15%. In this colorado dropped from 14th in the nation to 9th. It is said that smoking cost colorado 1.3billion dollars a year and kills 16000 people in just colorado. This matters because and a teen pure pressure will test me and I will havt to overcome it. This relates to the world because many people in the Us smoke and it is killing many people each year. This is why this article matters.

This week I read an article called "Bailey Shooting Victim honored with monument" about the shooting that happened last september 27th in bailey last year. Last year Duane Morrison took Emily keyes and 6 other victims into a room in the school. He let some of them go but as timed passed only emilyand him remained. He then shot emily and then himself.In the last week a memorial has been constructed in honor of emilly and to help her families grief. This relates to me because it can happen and has happened at hundreds of schools. This relates to the worls because after 1 shooting a copy cat effect happened and 5 more shooting happened in one week. This is a very bad thing tat happens every year.

Today I read an article called Classroom For the Future by David Warlick. This was an article about schools in pennsylvania that will be the most high tech classrooms ever. In each classroom they will get laptops,printers,scaners,wi-fi,imagining software and much more stuff. This relates to me because in our classroom we do hav laptops and wifi and a printer. This relates to the world around me because everyone tries to become more advanced and with more hi tech stuff. This is why this article is so important.

This time I read an article called Dad heard car crash about 2 17 year old girls that died saturday morning. It was about 4 people that were in a car when they ran a stop sign and got hit by a 40 foot delivery truck. This article relates to me because I will be driving soon and I will have to be carefull and will make sure my friends are too. What matters is just like that all those people lost 2 really great friends and I know that I could lost anyone at anytime like my friends or my family. This is a very sad story and it happens all the time so we need to stop it and make teen drivers safer. This is how this article relates to me and what matters.

PLN Week1 Post1

I read the article us marks 6th 9/11 anniversary. I thought this was a good article to read because today is the 6th anniversary of 9/11. I talk about all the people that died because of the 19 plane hijackers that joined to terroize america. On this day 2973 people were killed because or the 4 planes. It said that thousands of people gather in rememberance today in the 4 locations that the planes crashed. When the first plane crashes into the north tower at 8:46 it was only 17 minutes untill the second plane crashed into the south tower. At 9:56 about an hour later the south tower colasped. It only took the 120 story building 10 seconds to colapse. Only 30 after that the north tower colapsed killing the 1462 people inside it. This is the one day of the year that should be remember forever. It was a day of tragedy and when nearly 3000 people were killed. As the United states remember this day it should also be known of all the rescuers and everyone else that helped that day.
